Day trips around Oban are plentiful –

- The small town of Inverary, is only a 45 minute drive from Oban and is home to Inverary jail (one of the finest preserved jails and courtrooms around) and Inverary Castle, both packed with tails of history.

McCaigs Tower, a prominent landmark in Oban’s skyline, is well worth the climb from the town centre. This structure was commissioned by a local wealthy banker, Mr John Stuart McCaig, back in 1897. Now the tower houses a lovely garden area and spectacular views over Oban and beyond.
Oban Distillery is situated in the centre of the town and is one of the oldest in Scotland. A tour round the distillery offers a chance to see whisky production first-hand while enjoying a complimentary wee dram.
Stramash is a local outdoor centre offering morning and afternoon activities which include Canoeing, Gorge Walking and Sea Kayaking.
Oban Chocolate Company named as the Best Coffee Shop in the North West of Scotland in 2015 is definitely worth a visit to sample the delights.
